We utilize the high strength and light weight of high modulus fibers such as carbon and Kevlar to build light, stiff, and strong racing and cruising yachts
Using leading-edge vacuum-bagging and post-curing technology, NEB creates high-strength structural members, such as this honeycomb/carbon deck beam for an America's Cup racer

up to speed and fuel efficiency. During sea trials this Sparkman & Stephens-designed beauty hit 35 knots with ease, running smoothly and quietly. The yacht features three cored-fiberglass watertight bulkheads and one watertight door with window into the engine room; the hull, deck, superstructure, and all transverse frames and longitudinal stiffeners are built to exceed ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) requirements. Simplicity, safety, and seaworthiness are the keywords in the design and construction of this motoryacht. The Owner, a very experienced boatowner, has also placed high emphasis on the well-organized engine room, straightforward systems design for easy service access, and the practical, attractively finished interior with traditional, understated styling.

> 2006: A Great Year for Refits at NEB
Burled-Maple Joinery, Custom Bowrails, Awlgrip, Repowers, and More!
1. NEB's total refit of the Hinckley 70 Annalu included re-powering the yacht; 2. Removing and replacing heavy machinery—such as the engine—without nicking the varnish is part of the art of an NEB refit!; 3. The final touch by NEB's Paint TeamAnnalu's high gloss, black Awlgrip topsides—really brings out the beauty of this fine yacht.

4.
NEB's Joinerwork team crafted a saloon table of burled maple for the NEB-built S&S 65 Fast Cruiser (click here to see the finished product); 5. The styling on the S&S 65 is clean and classic; 6. Soundproofing measures on the S&S 65 included special high-density sound-dampening panels to achieve extraordinarily low levels of noise and vibration.

7.
One of the most popular NEB upgrades for both power and sail continues to be bow thrusters, in a variety of configurations; 8. The underbody of the Swan 45 received NEB's reknowned "Race Prep" keel-fairing and fast-finish bottom treatment; 9. NEB's Metalwork department fabricated a number of custom tanks and structures for all types of boats as well as architectural projects, including spiral staircases.

10.
Dozens of yachts received electrical and mechanical system upgrades as well as scheduled maintenance, including refrigeration service, courtesy of NEB's Mechanical & Electrical department; 11. NEB's Metalwork team built this custom weightsaving aluminum bow pulpit for Aera, a 55-footer. NEB also fabricated stainless-steel bow rails for ABN AMRO ONE, the winner of the Volvo Ocean Race. 12. Whether the project was power or sail, new or refit, NEB's honeycomb-cored cabinetry saved weight, resulting in faster, more fuel-efficient yachts.

13.
The 67-foot W-Class yacht Wild Horses received new topsides Alwgrip, varnish, and a bottom job; 14. The custom anchor roller was fabricated for the NEB-built S&S 65-foot Fast Cruiser; 15. NEB's Composites Team created a number of custom carbon components, from bow prods for IRC "turbo packages" to the carbon masthead crane for the maxiyacht Captivity (ex-Sagamore).

> Another NEB Winner!
Snow Lion Sails to IRC Victory in Stormy 2006 Vineyard Race & 2006 Bermuda Race
The Jason Ker-designed 50-foot Cruiser/Racer Snow Lion performed admirably in the rough 2006 Stamford-Vineyard Race, winning her division and taking second overall in IRC. The race was sailed in extremely demanding storm-force conditions, and Snow Lion was one of only three boats to finish. Snow Lion and owner Lawrence Huntington also won Class 9 of the St. David's Lighthouse Division in the Bermuda Race earlier in the summer. Launched by NEB just two weeks prior to the race, Snow Lion topped a tough class that included several TP52's and other proven offshore winners. Congratulations to owner Lawrence Huntington and his experienced offshore crew!
